Job Advert Description

As Commercial Management Accountant you will lead on the provision of management information and financial planning support to the Commercial Directorate of IOP Publishing. This includes ensuring all processes are efficient and fit for purpose, such as sales reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management. You will report to the Group Financial Planning Manager, but will work closely with the Commercial Business Partner to represent finance to the Commercial Directorate.  You’ll need the skills and ability to deliver results and manage service levels in a fast paced and demanding environment.

You will be accountable for providing a detailed understanding of revenue performance, cost management and lead on the annual budget and quarterly forecast process.  As well as supporting decision-making, you will equip the business with finance skills so that managers are accomplished in running their areas with commercial acumen.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, solid financial judgement and problem solving skills, as well as an ability to form strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Although based in the UK, IOP Publishing has a number of overseas offices and the role holder will need to be comfortable building relationships via phone and email with stakeholders based internationally.

Qualifications

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) part-qualified/qualified with relevant experience

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrable experience of month end, budgets and forecasts
  • Strong systems (ERP) knowledge including process development to support business requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of building rapport with organisational stakeholders
  • Ability to accurately complete work at a detailed level and under time pressure
  • Experience of developing financial acumen as a budget holder/management competence
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Must be proactive and able to use own initiative
  • Good technical know-how (UK GAAP, taxation)
