About the role:
As Business Intelligence Analyst, you’ll be responsible for providing an information service for IOP Publishing to ensure the right people have the right information at right time. Working with colleagues across the organisation, you’ll develop an understanding of their needs and provide the essential knowledge to enhance understanding of our customers and partners.
You’ll promote the use of self-service reporting by utilising the appropriate technologies and user interfaces and add value by accurately interpreting customer requirements and summarising complex data to meet customer’s information requirements. Your curious mind will lead you to anticipate and react to business needs, digging deep beneath the surface to understand the context and purpose, and provide compelling and meaningful information.
The role requires extensive knowledge of a variety of information systems and tools, and you will be required to use these tools to analyse and interpret complex data from multiple sources.
You’ll assist in the implementation of reporting developments, make recommendations to improve quality and accuracy of reporting, and feed into the overall information strategy.
Information and data governance are a key part of the role and the ability to develop clear understanding of the underlying data and management information will be key as you will act as an interface between I.T. and the business communicating changes in the BI environment to stakeholders.
You’ll play a key role in project teams working with both IT and the business to ensure requirements are met, your expertise in developing business facing reporting will ensure the benefits are realised by the business.

Applicants should demonstrate the following:
- An Information Professional, experienced in using BI applications. Business Objects specifically would be advantageous
- Educated to degree level, ideally in a numerical or analytical related subject, or equivalent experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential
- Comprehensive experience of data collection, analysis and interpretation
- Delivery and customer-focused with a pragmatic approach to balance time and data constraints with customer and business needs
- Strong analytical and reporting skills; thorough and methodical with an exceptional eye for detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- A logical and questioning mind, with the desire to learn and exploit new skills and tools
