As Finance Assistant, reporting into the Finance Operations Manager, you will be responsible for providing flexible processing support to the four functional areas of the Finance Operations Team – Banking, Billing, Accounts Payable and Credit Control.
You will be asked to perform a wide range of finance tasks, including but not limited to, posting bank transactions, processing payments and invoices, producing reconciliations, chasing customer debt and managing team inboxes.
The successful candidate will be used to working in a busy office environment and will ideally have some knowledge of basic finance processes. More important though is a can-do attitude, a willingness to learn, and the confidence to work pro-actively with the different functional areas, seeking out those which most need support on any given day, week or month.
The successful candidate will also be expected to use their unique position of cross team involvement to suggest and drive forward continuous improvement initiatives.
Depending on the capability of the candidate, there may also be opportunities to get involved in project work managed directly by the Finance Operations Manager.
Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:
- Educated to A Level or equivalent as a minimum.
- Suitable for someone who has studied or is considering studying AAT. Study support may become available depending on the candidate.
Skills and experience
- Experience working in a demanding office environment and ideally within a finance function.
- Comfortable with managing a wide variety of tasks which change frequently depending on the needs of the business.
- An ability to work on their own initiative, completing tasks without close supervision, and being pro-active in seeking out ways in which they can add value to the organisation.
- An ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
