About the role:

We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Commissioning Editor to join the ebooks team at IOP Publishing.

Reporting to the Associate Director, you will be responsible for managing and growing a successful program of ebooks within a defined physical sciences subject portfolio. Able to work with a high degree of independence, you will be responsible for the growth of your list through effective commissioning and an ability to build productive relationships with authors and publishing partners. You will work with colleagues across the Editorial, Production, Marketing and Sales teams at IOP to ensure that your titles are published to a high standard and that their visibility and usage is maximized. 

We are looking for a candidate with proven experience of acquiring STM book content in volume and a passion for developing their knowledge and expanding their networks.

About you:

Essential

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Significant experience in STM book content acquisition
  • Proven ability to manage and grow a profitable publishing program
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning and organisational abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel: regular domestic and international travel for conferences, university campus visits and other meetings

Desired:

  • A degree in a scientific subject
